The San Bernardino National Forest of Southern California is divided into two ranges--
Southern and Northern. Fundamentally the ranges
are divided by U.S. Interstate 10 and
geographically by the San Andreas Fault.
The "Birds of the San Bernardino Mountains" guide
encompasses most of the
2100 square miles of the Northern Portion of the San Bernardino Mountains.
Included are its many villages,
towns and communities along with its four main lakes:
Silverwood Lake, Lake Gregory, Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear Lake.
As a prior
15 year resident of Crestline, California, I've come to know the trails,
routes, and great birding sites around my mountainous 'backyard'

The sites are listed individually with specific information about each. Also
3 fold-out maps to help get you there. The sites are numbered to correspond with the maps and only the main highways,
paved roads, dirt roads, National Forest Roads, and the
